Rocket League Roster Announcement

25th April 2017

Hot on the heels of the announcement of our Gfinity Elite Series participation, we’re delighted to welcome a new Rocket League roster to the exceL eSports family.

This talented squad participated in the Red Bull 5G North vs South LAN event last year, and won the Northern regional final in Manchester. They would go on to lose a tight final series 2-1 to a strong South team, including well-known players Doomsee and Markydooda.

All three players have been members of the community Power Ranking Committee for Europe, writing weekly blogs discussing and analysing the performances of the top teams in the region.

Lunation has played Rocket League since its closed alpha stage and has a background in its predecessor, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (SARPBC). A veteran of several top-10 teams, such as ProficiencyHQ, Aeriality and Teamus Weamus, he has several accolades in the professional scene, including an ESL Monthly win and numerous top-4 finishes. Perhaps his best accomplishment to date has been in reaching the last-eight Group Stage of Rocket League Season 1 while with Comrade Gaming. He is a very active member of the Rocket League community, and has co-written articles such as previewing the RLC Pro League Playoffs. Alieuzz began playing Rocket League with its release, and formed his first team along with Lunation shortly after the competitive scene began. His most notable achievement was winning the ESL Monthly final along with Lunation, and played a key part in the successes of the North in the Red Bull 5G LAN tournament. Much like Lunation, he is a frequent participant in weekly Gfinity and ESL online tournaments, and is an avid follower of the Rocket League professional scene. Wrong_Way_Woody is a long time player, having discovered a game with a ‘stupidly long name’ while browsing the PSN store. He then went on to participate in both the alpha and beta of Rocket League, and has been extremely active in the community the whole time. As a long-term member of the Power Rankings Committee, he has a lot of experience in arranging and coordinating tournaments, as well as offering a helping hand whenever events are organised. With a wealth of knowledge of the game and pro scene in general, he is raring to go in a playing capacity for exceL in the Gfinity Elite Series. He is a multiple winner of Gfinity and ESL events, was part of the Reed Bull 5G runners up, and has achieved a high of sixth place in the official Power Rankings. Alex AFN1910 rounds out our first ever Rocket League squad. Brother of Wrong_Way_Woody and former top level competitor, Alex's experience will prove vital should his talents be called upon as a result of absenteeism elsewhere in the team. Alex is a long-term veteran of the Rocket League UK esports scene, evident from the fact that in the first two competitive tournaments, he reached the final on both occasions. He was previously associated within the first few months of the games release with the team that would go on to become known as ‘Flipsid3 Tactics’, the RLCS Season 2 Champions, and RLCS Season 1 Runners up. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, such as pursuing a Master of Laws degree, he had to take a step back from competing on a more regular basis, however he has maintained a skill level not to be underestimated should he get the opportunity to compete in the Elite Series.

We can’t wait to see our boys get stuck into the opposition in the upcoming inaugural season of the Gfinity Elite Series, as well as other events to come, and will be supporting them every step of the way!
